The methodology used by
CARICOM Member States in the compilation of their merchandise trade statistics
can be found in this section. Of specific importance for users to note are the
differences between the national methodology and the international framework for
the compilation of these statistics. The user can then determine the level of
comparability among CARICOM Member States as well as internationally and the
degree of variation.
The explanatory notes will also detail some of the issues related to the coding
system, such as the use of 10-digit codes to identify items converted from
earlier versions of the CET, and how users can best utilise the system to
extract the data required.
Below, you find some of the trade methodologies
presently being used in some of the Member States.
